Greyd Global Content

Global Content is an additional plugin included in the Greyd.Suite. It allows you to reuse and synchronize content across multiple websites within a WordPress multisite network. Once a content source is created, it can be distributed to many sites and stays up-to-date whenever the original is edited.

This system ensures that content dynamically adapts to each individual site’s context. Global styles like colors and typography are respected, as well as local content logic like query loops, taxonomies, dynamic tags, and dynamic content. You can build a network-wide structure that feels native to each individual site.

Global Content supports any type of WordPress post. This includes typical content like blog posts and pages, but also layout elements such as dynamic templates and template parts (e.g., headers or footers). Even entire content structures — like custom post types or taxonomies created via the Greyd Post Types feature — can be synchronized, since they are technically also based on posts.

Technical Concept

Global Content is powered by the Post Import/Export API provided by the Greyd Plugin.

When you synchronize content, it is exported from the source post and imported live into the target sites. The term “post” always refers to the technical base object, but a single content piece usually includes more than just one post. For example, an article may include images, a page may embed dynamic templates or forms, and headers may reference menus. Each of these components is also a post (or includes other posts or media) and will be handled by the export process.

You can mark any post as “global,” turning it into a source post. Initially, it is not yet used anywhere else. To distribute it, you use the menu option Global Content → Manage content on this website.

Once imported, the target site stores a synchronized version of the original content and keeps it connected to the source post. Any update to the source will automatically be pushed to all linked versions across the network.

License Requirements

The Global Content feature is available only with a subscription license starting from the “Starter” plan. Depending on the license level, different features and limits may apply.
