Global Dynamic Tags

The Global Dynamic Tags feature lets you access the content or meta data of the most recent post from any custom post type — anywhere on your site. This works without needing a Query Loop or a dedicated template. The tags are available across all editing contexts and always point to the latest published post.

The feature is especially useful for showing things like the most recent article teaser, announcement title, or blog post summary on landing pages or reusable layouts.

This feature requires both the Post Types and Dynamic Templates modules to be active. You can enable them under Greyd.Suite → Features.

Once active, a new option appears in the settings of each custom post type created via the Post Types feature. Edit the post type you want to enable this feature for and scroll down to the Post architecture section. At the end you’ll find a checkbox that says Make data from the latest post available globally.

When this is switched on, new dynamic tags related to the latest post of that post type will automatically appear in every editing context. These tags behave like regular dynamic tags but always reference the most recent post.

For more details on working with dynamic tags, see the Dynamic Tags documentation. To learn more about custom post types, refer to the Post Types documentation.
