Global Search

The Global Search feature enables cross-site search across all websites connected via Greyd.Hub. Once enabled, users can view and access content from multiple connected sites in a unified search result. Whether a site is included in the Global Search depends on both the network-wide settings and the individual site settings.

Network Settings

Global Search configuration starts in the Network Admin Menu under Global Content → Global Search. Here, you can define which websites should be part of the global search pool.

You can either include or exclude specific websites — but not both at once. Once one of the two options is used, the other becomes disabled.

Both options present a large text field. Clicking into this field opens a dropdown with all available connected sites. Select the desired websites by clicking them one by one. After making your selection, save the configuration using the Save changes button at the bottom of the page.

Option: Include Websites

This setting lets you explicitly include certain sites in Global Search. Only the selected sites will be searched. Any new sites added to the network will not be included by default unless they are added manually.

If no sites are selected, all sites are included.

Option: Exclude Websites

This setting works in reverse. All connected sites will be searched except for the ones explicitly excluded. Newly added sites are automatically included unless later excluded manually.

Again, if no sites are selected, all sites are included.

Site-Level Settings

On each connected site, you’ll find a local toggle under Global Content → Global Search in the admin menu.

Here, you can activate Global Search with a checkbox labeled Activate Global Search. This determines whether the current site will display search results from other websites.

To take effect, click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

Behavior in the Frontend

Once Global Search is activated on a site, users will see search results from other connected websites — as long as those sites are allowed by the network-level settings.

To make it clear where results are coming from, you can use the Dynamic TagPost URL” inside your search results. For example, insert a Paragraph block and apply the tag to show the source URL of each post.

Alternatively, clicking on a search result will directly take the user to the post on the originating site.

Known Limitations

Global Search does not work with certain Core blocks when rendering dynamic post data:

  • Blocks like Post Title or Post Date are not compatible with global search results.
  • The Featured Image used inside Core blocks like the Cover block will also not render correctly.

To ensure full compatibility, use Dynamic Tags instead of Core dynamic blocks. For images, use the Dynamic Image block.
